New UI Update: After the redesign, prompts are now added via Configure → Prompt Templates → Add Template (button on the right side of the page). The old Prompts Monitoring tab has been replaced by the Explorer tab, but you can still access Classic Scrunch temporarily via the username menu → Switch to Classic Scrunch.
Prompts are the foundation of your AI visibility monitoring in Scrunch. There are several ways to add prompts, each designed for different workflows:
Reminder, each platform a prompt runs against counts as one 'Prompt' for your package.
Note: If you just created a new brand, Scrunch may have already generated 5 starter prompts for you automatically as a starting point. These prompts are designed to help you see immediate insights. You can keep, edit, or delete these starter prompts, and use the methods below to add more.
New UI: Adding Prompts via Configure
In the redesigned Scrunch interface, prompts are managed through the Configure section.
Navigate to Configure → Prompt Templates
Click the Add Template button on the right side of the page
Choose from three creation methods:
Generate with AI
Scrunch will create prompts based on your brand configuration and selected personas.
Enter Manually
Paste or type up to 500 prompts at once, one per line. Configure platform settings, persona, and tags in bulk.
Import from file
Upload a CSV with prompts and their configurations. See the Uploading Prompts via CSV guide for column format and examples.
Classic UI: Add Prompts One at a Time
Use this method when you want precise control over each prompt.
Navigate to the Prompts Monitoring tab
Click "+ New Prompt"
Enter your prompt, select the platforms, add optional tags or persona
Click Create
Classic UI: Bulk Import from a List
Ideal for pasting in a batch of questions you've already gathered.
Navigate to the Prompts tab
Click on the drop-down next to "+ New Prompt"
Select "Bulk Add Prompts"
Enter one prompt per line
Configure platform settings in bulk
Click Upload Prompts
Once you've made sure they are good to go, select "Add Prompts"
Classic UI: Convert SEO Keywords into Prompts
Turn your existing keyword list into AI-native prompts.
Navigate to the Prompts tab
Click on the drop-down next to "+ New Prompt"
Select "Convert SEO Keywords"
Paste a list of SEO keywords
Scrunch will auto-convert them into question-style prompts typically seen in AI models
Review and edit before selecting "Add Prompts"
Classic UI: Upload via CSV
Best for advanced users who want full control or to re-upload prompts with context. See the detailed Uploading Prompts via CSV guide for column format and examples.
Navigate to the Prompts tab
Click on the drop-down next to "+ New Prompt"
Select "Import Prompts from CSV"
Download the CSV template from the prompt upload section
Fill in columns for prompt, platforms, persona, tags, and topic
Upload the completed file via "Upload CSV"
Review and edit before selecting "Add Prompts"
Country:
Country code (e.g. US, CA, ES) is now a required prompt-level field and is independent of persona. You can set this through the UI or CSV upload.
Use Natural Language with Scrunchie or MCP
You can add prompts using natural language through the in-app Scrunchie integration or by using the Scrunch MCP in the AI assistant of your choice.
Scrunchie and the MCP also support bulk-updating Stages and Topics on existing prompts via natural language commands. For example, you can say "add the 'Pricing' topic to all prompts about cost" or "change the Stage to 'Awareness' for all my competitor comparison prompts." The AI will find the matching prompts, show you what will change, and apply the updates after you confirm.
What Happens Next?
Once added, prompts appear in the Explorer tab, where you can filter by persona, topic, tag, or country. You can also pin insights to dashboards (Citations, Non Branded Prompts, Topics) and build pivot tables for multi-metric leaderboards.
