What Are Prompt Templates?
Prompt Templates are a powerful way to add and manage prompts in Scrunch. Instead of creating individual prompts for every combination of model, language, country, and persona, you create one template that automatically expands across these dimensions. This approach lets you span your prompt strategy efficiently without duplicating work.
For example, if you want to test the same question against ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity in three languages and two countries, a single template generates all those variants automatically.
Where to Find Prompt Templates
Navigate to the Brand Settings section in your brand menu, then select the Configure tab. The sub-menu will reveal Prompt Templates. From there you can create, view, edit, and manage all your prompt templates.
Creating a Prompt Template
Click the Add Template button and choose one of three creation methods:
Generate with AI: Use Scrunch's LLM-assisted wizard to generate multiple prompt templates based on your brand, generation focus (awareness, evaluation, competitive alternatives), and preferences. The system creates ready-to-review templates tailored to your goals.
Enter Manually: Paste or type your prompts directly, one per line. You can paste up to 500 prompts at once, and Scrunch will convert each line into a template.
Import SEO Keywords: Paste traditional SEO keywords (up to 500) and Scrunch converts them into natural-language prompts suitable for AI search.
After choosing a method, you'll see a draft review screen where you can refine the templates before applying them.
How Template Expansion Works
Each template you create multiplies into individual prompt variants based on the dimensions you select:
AI Models
Choose which AI platforms to query (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, etc.). One template with three models selected becomes three separate prompts.
Languages
Add translations for your prompt text. Scrunch creates a variant for each language you select.
Countries
Specify target geographies. The platform collects responses as if the query came from users in those countries.
Personas
Attach one or more personas to frame the prompt from different user perspectives. Each persona generates a separate variant.
Total variants = Models × Languages × Countries × Personas
A template with 2 models, 2 languages, 1 country, and 2 personas produces 8 active prompt variants. All eight collect responses independently.
Organizing and Managing Templates
Prompt Templates support the same organizational tools as individual prompts:
Topics: Group templates by subject area. See How to Organize Prompts in Scrunch for details on topics versus tags.
Stages: Tag templates by customer journey stage (Awareness, Evaluation, Purchase).
Tags: Apply custom labels for filtering and reporting.
You can edit, archive, or bulk-update templates from the Templates list. Changes to a template apply to all its active variants.
Reviewing and Applying Template Drafts
After generating or importing templates, you'll see a draft review screen showing:
The prompt text for each template
Which models, languages, countries, and personas it will expand into
Any errors or warnings (duplicate prompts, missing required fields, quota limits)
Fix any issues, adjust the expansion settings, and click Apply to activate the templates. Scrunch immediately begins collecting responses for every variant.

Multi-language brand monitoring
Create one template for "best project management software" and expand it across English, Spanish, French, and German. Track how AI answers the same question in each market.

Run the same prompt from a CTO persona and a Marketing Manager persona to see how AI tailors responses based on role context.

How Template Data Collection Works
Each prompt variant created by a template collects responses independently. Scrunch dispatches a collection event per variant, not per model or per template, so persona, geography, and language modifiers all influence the results you see. You can view aggregated data by template or drill down into individual variant performance in the Explorer tab.
