Start a draft

How to start a Content Generation draft from a content gap, a topic, or prompts you pick

You can start a draft from a content gap Scrunch found, from a topic you track, or from prompts you pick. Each draft is one page.

Start from a content gap

  1. In the sidebar, go to Optimize > Content Generation.

  2. Content gaps lists the topics you track that have prompts no page on your site covers. Each row says how many.

  3. Click New draft on a topic. The New draft dialog opens on that topic.

  4. Optional: under Anything we should know?, tell Scrunch what the page should lead with, like your own data or a recent launch.

  5. Click Draft it.

If a topic isn't one you'll write about, click Dismiss. It's removed for everyone on your brand, and you can undo it right away.

Start from a topic or from prompts

Click New draft at the top of the page, then choose what the page is built around.

A topic. One page covering a subject you track, aimed at up to 40 of its prompts: the ones no page covers, if there are any. The topic list puts Topics not covered by your content above Topics covered by your content. If every prompt in the topic already has a page, the draft targets all of them. Scrunch says so ("Every prompt in this topic already has a page covering it. The closest is …") and links that page. You can still write the draft.

Prompts. One page aimed at up to 10 related prompts you track, from any topics. The list groups them by what your site already covers:

  • Prompts not covered by your content: no page on your site answers them, or Scrunch hasn't checked them against your site yet. Prompts no page covers come first.

  • Prompts covered by your content: a page on your site already answers them.

The first prompt you pick names the draft and sets its topic. A prompt needs a topic before you can pick it.

Other ways to start

  • If you use Citation Optimization: on a page you don't own, choose Draft your own from the row's menu. The draft targets the prompts that page is cited for.

  • Configure → Prompt Templates: after you add a single prompt, the notice offers Draft a page for this.

  • Site Optimization: the Content gaps row in your recommendations opens Content Generation.

While it writes

The writing screen: the steps, the planned sections, and the scores after the first pass

Writing your page builds the page on the left as it goes, and lists each step on the right:

  1. Prompt research: finding the pages AI cites for your prompts, and the ones it cites most.

  2. Page plan: choosing the title, the address, and what each section answers.

  3. First draft: writing every section, in your brand voice if you have a voice guide.

  4. Site Optimization: scoring the page, then applying its suggestions. Each section shows its Selection. The score strip says which pass it's from ("After pass 2"), and the page says how many cited pages it was scored against ("Scored against 5 pages AI cites").

  5. Voice guide: fixing any wording your voice guide rules out. This step only shows when you have a voice guide.

  6. Fact check: checking the claims against your sources.

  7. Saving: saving the draft for you to review.

It usually takes a few minutes, and you can leave the page and come back. The page's text appears once its claims have been checked.

What it means

Not started

The draft exists but hasn't been written. Click Draft this.

Writing

Scrunch is writing it.

Needs review

There are claims to check, the page scores well behind the pages AI cites, AI is unlikely to find it, or part of it couldn't be checked or scored (for example, nobody is cited for its prompts yet).

Ready

No claims to check and the score holds up. Voice items may still be listed.

Published

You marked it as published.

Writing failed

The draft didn't finish. Open it and choose Generate again (or Start again if the run stopped).

If you start a second draft for the same topic or prompts, Scrunch asks you to confirm first. The existing draft stays in the list.
