Fix wrong facts on cited pages

Find cited pages that disagree with your approved facts, and ask for a correction

Fact check reads what cited pages say about your brand and compares it with the Knowledge Studio documents your team has approved. When a page and your documents disagree, Scrunch quotes both, side by side. It doesn't decide who's right. You do.

Which pages are checked

Fact check looks at pages AI cites for your prompts that name your brand, on sites you don't own. Your own pages, and pages that don't mention you, show a dash in

Fact checked.

It runs on its own as AI cites pages, so there's nothing to start. Pages are checked over time, so some show Not checked yet for a while. When you approve a change in Knowledge Studio, Scrunch checks recent pages again against it.

Fact check needs at least one approved Knowledge Studio document or a confirmed website summary. Until then, Fact checked shows Set up Knowledge Studio.

The Fact checked column

  • 1 issue, 2 issues and so on: the page says something your documents contradict.

  • Accurate: nothing the page says about you contradicts your documents.

  • No facts to check: the page doesn't state any facts about you that can be checked.

  • Not checked yet: Scrunch hasn't checked the page yet.

  • Couldn't check: the check didn't work. Scrunch tries again later.

Hover a cell to see when the page was captured and when it was checked. Your documents changed since this check means you've approved a change since, and the result may change when the page is checked again.

Find the pages with fact issues

Choose View: Fact issues, or set the Fact checked filter to Issues. You'll see every page in the date range that says something your approved facts contradict, most influential first.

Scrunch also tells you when new ones turn up:

  • A notification in the bell saying how many new pages say something your approved facts contradict. These go out once a day.

  • A line at the top of Citation Optimization, for example 2 new pages with fact issues since you last looked. Click See issues to see them.

What this page says about you

Open a page to see What this page says about you: each statement the page makes about your brand, issues first. Each one has a label:

  • Issue: your documents say something different. Your documents say quotes the passage, and which document it's from.

  • Not in your documents: nothing in your approved documents contradicts it. Scrunch only looks for disagreements, so this also shows on statements your documents already cover. If it's true and missing from your documents, click Add it in Knowledge Studio.

  • Not checked yet: this statement hasn't been checked.

Statements without an issue are folded away. Click Show 3 other statements (or however many there are) to see them.

Ask for a correction

To ask for a correction, add the page to your targets. Scrunch drafts a correction email instead of a pitch, and its Correction brief shows the statements in question:

  • What the page says: the statement, quoted from the page.

  • What your approved facts say: the passage it disagrees with, and which document it's from.

Then send it and mark it sent. Scrunch reads the page every week, and the target moves to Placed once the statement has been gone for two reads in a row.

If your fact is the out-of-date one, update it in Knowledge Studio instead. Approve the new version, and Scrunch checks recent pages again against it.
