Set up your brand

Get access, and approve the facts that fact check and your emails work from

Citation Optimization works from the prompts you already track, so there's nothing to import. A little setup in Knowledge Studio turns on fact check and gives your emails the facts your team has signed off on.

Get access

Citation Optimization is in alpha, and your Scrunch team turns it on for each brand. If you don't see Citation Optimization under Optimize in the sidebar, ask your Scrunch contact.

Once it's on, the list fills in right away from the pages AI has already cited for your prompts.

Give fact check your facts

Fact check and correction emails only use facts a person on your team has approved in Knowledge Studio, under Brand Settings > Knowledge Studio. Until there's at least one, the intro card at the top of Citation Optimization shows the step to take next:

  • Confirm your website summary in Knowledge Studio: Scrunch has written a summary of your website. Read it, fix anything that's wrong, and confirm it.

  • Approve a document in Knowledge Studio: a document is waiting for approval.

  • Add a document to Knowledge Studio: add a document about your products, pricing or company, then approve it.

Click the step to go straight there. If you dismiss the card, a thin strip stays at the top of the page until the step is done, for example Pages aren't fact checked until a document is approved.

Who can take each step:

  • Brand admins and editors can confirm the website summary and approve documents. A document with an owner can only be approved by that owner.

  • Brand admins can add documents.

If you don't see the step, someone else on your team needs to take it.

Knowledge Studio is turned on separately. If it isn't under Brand Settings in the sidebar, ask your Scrunch contact. Until it's on, fact check shows Set up Knowledge Studio.

Keep your facts current

  • Approve documents that cover what pages most often state about you: your products, pricing and plans, and company facts.

  • When something changes, update the document and approve the new version. Scrunch checks recent pages again against it, and issues raised by the old fact can clear.

  • Leave out anything you wouldn't want in an email to a journalist. Approved facts can end up in the emails Scrunch drafts.

Keep your competitors and prompts up to date

Winnability and suggestions favor pages that name your competitors and not you, so keep your competitors current in Configure. The list only shows pages AI cites for the prompts you track, so track the prompts your buyers ask.

What fills in over the first days

Some details take a little time to appear:

  • Not read in Page type, and Not analyzed in Mentioned on page: Scrunch hasn't read the page yet. It's usually read the next time AI cites it.

  • Not scored in Winnability: the page hasn't been read, so there's nothing to score yet.

  • Not checked yet in Fact checked: pages are checked over time, as AI cites them.

  • Suggested targets: the card appears once there are pages worth suggesting. If it isn't there, there's nothing new to suggest today.
